What is the definition of a long marriage?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from J.D.C. v. K.L.M.F.C., 2014 BCSC 2182 (CanLII):

In this case, the parties’ marriage and cohabitation of almost 12 years falls marginally short of the definition of a long marriage. In addressing the question of unjust enrichment in marriage like relationships in Wilson v. Fotsch, 2010 BCCA 226 Huddart J.A. said at para. 64: Although the significance of the length of the relationship depends to some extent on the age of the parties at its beginning, my review of the case law suggests that marriages can be categorized for this purpose into at least three groups: long (12 or more years); medium (6 to 11 years); and short (5 or fewer years). Long marriages are more likely to suggest a family venture and equality of sharing of all the family‘s assets.
