What is the effect of the passage "deceptive or reprehensible" in the closing statement of a jury trial?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Hernandez, C056856 (Cal. App. 12/2/2008), C056856. (Cal. App. 2008):

Viewed in context, it cannot be said that the passage quoted above was a "deceptive or reprehensible method[]" to persuade the jury. (People v. Morales, supra, 25 Cal.4th at p. 44.) Rather, it was an inartful way of telling the jurors that the prosecution's evidence constituted proof of defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and that jurors should find that it overcame the presumption of innocence.
