Can an employer be held liable for discriminatory conduct by a doorman?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Naqvi v. DOCL Enterprises Ltd., 1998 CanLII 19193 (SK HRT):

The 199[5] Saskatchewan case of McNab v. Calyniuk Restaurants Inc. reported at 24 C.H.R.R. D/254 is similar: the complainant is refused entry to a night club on the basis of race, and the employer is found liable for the discriminatory act of the doorman although again in this case the identity of that employee is never established.
