Is a husband entitled to terminate his employment without cause to avoid his legal responsibilities to his wife?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from English v. English, 2011 BCSC 90 (CanLII):

A spouse is not entitled without good reason, such as a medical inability to work or termination of employment without cause, to avoid his legal responsibilities to a spouse (Szczerbaniwicz v. Szczerbaniwicz, 2010 BCSC 421, 84 R.F.L. (6th) 166). As a result of the husband’s decision to abandon his career he has also abandoned his legal responsibilities to his wife. His reason appears to have been to pursue a new relationship in a new country with complete disregard for his wife, his clients and his creditors.
