What is the effect of a finding of not guilty in a personal injury appeal?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce v. Creurer et al., 1989 CanLII 4428 (SK CA):

In my respectful opinion, the trial judge's findings are irreversible in light of the evidence and the standards of appellate review which apply here: Lensen v. Lensen, 1987 CanLII 4 (SCC), [1987] 2 S.C.R. 672; 79 N.R. 334. And so I have concluded that the appeal of the two sons, personally, cannot succeed.
