If a child has been placed in an adoptive parent's care, can he maintain a connection with his biological parent's roots?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Children’s Aid Society of Toronto v. A.M., 2016 ONCJ 607 (CanLII):

Knowing one's roots can be an important part of a child's development. If a child can maintain a connection with these roots without jeopardizing the security of a permanent adoptive placement, that is an option that should be considered. See: Children’s Aid Society of Toronto v. M.M. [2012] O.J. No. 3240 (OCJ).
