Since 1973, a misdemeanor conviction, predicated upon a guilty plea, is invalid unless the record explicitly reveals that before the plea was entered, the defendant was made aware of his privilege against self-incrimination, his right to confrontation, and his right to a jury trial, and that he knowingly and intelligently waived each of those rights.
