Compliance with Penal Code section 1237.5 is a condition precedent to an appellate attack on the validity of a guilty plea. (People v. Pinon (1979) 96 Cal.App.3d 904, 908, fn. 2, 158 Cal.Rptr. 425.) Although the requirement of a certificate of probable cause was recently abolished by an amendment to Penal Code section 1237.5, a verified statement of grounds for appeal is still necessary.
