What is the test for a jury to convict a defendant of receiving stolen property?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Evans, 135 Cal.App.4th 1178, 37 Cal.Rptr.3d 852 (Cal. App. 2006):

The evidence fully supported the jury's finding that defendant was guilty of receiving stolen property, defined as buying or receiving any property that has been stolen or obtained in any manner constituting theft or extortion, knowing the property to be so stolen or obtained. (Pen.Code, 496; see also People v. Anderson (1989) 210 Cal.App.3d 414, 421, 258 Cal.Rptr. 482 [proof of knowing possession by a defendant of recently stolen property raises a strong inference that defendant knew of tainted nature of property, requiring only slight additional corroborating evidence to support a finding of guilt].)
