The following excerpt is from The People v. Vancil, C061864, No. 07F06943 (Cal. App. 2010):
The case against defendant was overwhelming: the victim was murdered with defendant's gun, defendant admitted firing the fatal shot, he fled Sacramento just after the murder, before the murder he expressed an interest in robbing the victim or drug dealers, a cell phone was taken from the victim's house, and the victim's phone line had been disconnected from the outside. There is no reasonable probability defendant would have had a more favorable result in the absence of errors. (People v. Watson (1956) 46 Cal.2d 818, 836.)
