What is an associated crime for kidnapping?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Morris, B283044 (Cal. App. 2019):

3. An associated crime "is any criminal act the defendant intends to commit where, in the course of its commission, the defendant also moves a victim by force or fear against his or her will." (People v. Bell (2009) 179 Cal.App.4th 428, 430.)

4. Appellant does not contest the sufficiency of the evidence to establish that he possessed the requisite mens rea for kidnapping to commit rape. We therefore do not address that issue. (See Alhusainy v. Superior Court (2006) 143 Cal.App.4th 385, 395 [issue not briefed is forfeited].)
