Murder is an unlawful killing committed with malice aforethought. (People v. Cravens (2012) 53 Cal.4th 500, 507.) Malice may be express or implied; it is express when the defendant intends to kill, and it is implied when the defendant deliberately commits an act that is dangerous to human life and acts with knowledge of the danger and a conscious disregard for life.
