To satisfy these requirements at the pleading stage a plaintiff must allege facts showing that he or she suffered an economic injury caused by the alleged violation. [Citation.] Because reliance is the causal mechanism of fraud [citation] this requires pleading facts showing actual reliance, that is, that the plaintiff suffered economic injury as a result of his or her reliance on the truth and accuracy of the defendant's representations. [Citation.] (Chapman v. Skype Inc. (2013) 220 Cal.App.4th 217, 228, 162 Cal.Rptr.3d 864.)
