What is the entitlement of a party to travel expenses?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from French v The City of Fort St. John and Fort St. John Curling Club, 2004 BCSC 93 (CanLII):

The entitlement of a party to travel expenses has been approved in Baker v. Greenhalgh [1999] B.C.J. No 1710 (Master). There is no suggestion that Mr. French moved to Prince George to create an expense he expected to be paid by the defendants. His attendance at the mediation was clearly necessary. The travel costs are allowed as presented. Miscellaneous Expenses
