Is a child support agreement entered into between the parties binding the parties to child support?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from J.L.W. v C.V.W., 2017 BCSC 2144 (CanLII):

The jurisprudence establishes that the court may consider the separation agreement entered into by the parties as a factor in determining child support. The courts are not bound by the agreement of the parties when it comes to child support, as per Willick v. Willick, 1994 CanLII 28 (SCC), [1994] 3 S.C.R. 670.
