What is the remedy for breach of contract?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from Community Credit Union Ltd. v. Ast, 2007 ABQB 689 (CanLII):

The traditional remedy for breach of contract is to put the wronged-party in the position that it would have been in had the contract been performed. See Robinson v. Harman (1848) 1 Ex. 850 at 855. Applying this principle, courts award damages equal to the wronged-party’s loss.
