What is the test for damages for general impairment?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Leo v. Leo, 2005 BCSC 1300 (CanLII):

I have been referred on the plaintiff’s behalf to Morris v. Rose Estate, [1996] B.C.J. No. 999. In that decision Mr. Justice Donald of our Court of Appeal said that an award for loss of capacity to earn income must compensate a claimant for general impairment. He said that the award must compensate for the physical impediments that a claimant faces in pursuing a wide range of job options.
