What is the impact of mental health issues on a young mother?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from D.B.V. (Re), 2015 ABPC 193 (CanLII):

Fowler, J. In Manager, Child, Youth and Family Services v. L.L. (2015 NLTD(F) 18) was faced with similar issues. The mother in that case was suffering from mental health concerns including anxiety and depression. She also had an alcohol dependence and had attempted to take her own life. She was said to be battling all of these demons and slowly rehabilitating herself. Her predicted time for recovery was expected to take perhaps 2.5 to 3 years.
