However, this legal principle cuts both ways. If the lender was involved in some way in the fraud, it too may have difficulty enforcing the contract due to its legality. See: Letkeman v. Zimmerman 1977 CanLII 196 (SCC), [1978] 1 S.C.R. 1097.
