What is the quantum of spousal support awarded by the Court of Appeal under the Marriage and Divorce Act?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from J.P.E. v. L.G.E., 2003 BCSC 1262 (CanLII):

Thus, the only question is the appropriate order for quantum of spousal support. An award of spousal support is to be made on the means and needs of both parties so that they are placed in a position as close as possible to that enjoyed before the marriage break down. As set out in Moge v. Moge, marriage is to be regarded as a joint endeavour, with the longer the marriage the greater the presumptive claim upon its dissolution to equal standards of living.
