The SSAG have been accepted by the courts as a useful tool in determining the appropriate range of awards in most cases, including the duration of spousal support. The SSAG may be considered on a variation application if approached with caution and on a fact specific basis, keeping in mind that they are a guide only: Beninger v. Beninger, 2007 BCCA 619 [Beninger].
