Are life insurance premiums reasonably deducted from the income of the father for child support purposes?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from C.M. v. V.M., 2016 BCSC 2144 (CanLII):

On the question of whether the life insurance premiums in question are an expense that is reasonably deducted from the father’s income, neither party cited any authority. The mother submits that the father bears the onus of proving that such an expense is a reasonable deduction from his income for child support purposes. There is authority for this position in circumstances where the payee has first established a reasonable evidentiary basis for the imputation of income: see Sobiegraj v. Sobiegraj, 2014 ONSC 2030 [Sobiegraj].
