What is the test for proof of past work with a school district?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from McLeod v Picard, 2020 BCSC 451 (CanLII):

In respect of her work with the School District, the plaintiff argues there is both a past loss of income and a past loss of opportunity. The distinction between proof of past actual events and past hypothetical events was discussed in Gao v. Dietrich, 2018 BCCA 372. If the plaintiff establishes a real and substantial possibility of a hypothetical event, then the court must weigh that hypothetical event according to its relative likelihood. Past actual events must be proved on a balance of probabilities, and once proved they are treated as certainties.
