In Von Sturmer v. Von Sturmer, [1998] B.C.J. No. 1646 (S.C.), an appeal from a Master's chambers order that assessed the husband's child support obligations by taking the two children from a previous relationship, plus the two to whom the order related, and splitting the Guidelines amount for four children in half, Ralph J. found that this assessment method was incorrect. He explained the situation as follows:
