What is the impact of a parent’s proposed relocation to a new location?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Hokhold v. Gerbrandt, 2012 BCSC 1313 (CanLII):

In the case of Woods v. Woods, our Court of Appeal reiterated that the best interests of the children are the paramount consideration and that where a parent’s proposed relocation impacts on access to a child, this should be considered along with other relevant factors, stating at para. 10: Her proposed relocation is a significant factor to be balanced with others in determining what will best serve the interests of the children, and their ultimate place of residence will clearly have an impact on access rights.
