What is the test for determining the best interest of a child?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. D. B. v. M. W., 2004 SKQB 78 (CanLII):

In Gordon v. Goertz, 1996 CanLII 191 (SCC), [1996] 2 S.C.R. 27 at para. 49, McLachlin J. (as she then was), confirmed that in determining the best interests of a child, “[e]ach case turns on its own unique circumstances. The only issue is the best interest of the child in the particular circumstances of the case”.
