What is the test for "engaged" employment?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Jack Decoteau Excavating Inc. v. Timmins Nickel Inc., 1996 CanLII 1998 (BC SC):

24 I could not disagree with the general proposition (Buntine v. Hume [1993] V.L.R. 123 (Aust.)) that "In some contexts you may speak about a person being engaged in an occupation for however short a period he may be occupied therein. In another context, however, the word 'engaged' conveys a different meaning, i.e. it excludes mere casual or intermittent employment and rather connotes ... the whole or, at least, a substantial part of the person's time" but the Act here provides an established context, not a new and broader framework.
