What is the effect of supervised access?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from B.C. v. M.T., 2019 ONCJ 33 (CanLII):

[22] Supervised access is not intended to be a long-term arrangement for a child. It is beneficial for children who require gradual reintroduction to a parent, or whose safety requires it until such time as the parent is sufficiently rehabilitated and a child is no longer in danger of physical or emotional harm. Najjardizaji v. Mehrjerdi, [2004] O.J. No. 5472 (OCJ).
