What is the current state of the law for a manual recount in a judicial recount?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Dhaliwal v. Comis and Spitz (Number 2), 2005 BCPC 590 (CanLII):

I also need to comment that on further consideration, I have misgivings as to whether I was correct in law when I determined that the legislation requires that a judicial recount needs to be a manual recount as opposed to a machine recount. My decision had to be made quickly because of the time limits and I subsequently learned that there was precedent in British Columbia for a machine tabulated recount as described in the decision of Sharma v. Silver.
