What is the test for obtaining an authorization to name someone as an object of interception?

New Brunswick, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. Perron, 2008 NBQB 106 (CanLII):

The authorizing judge must make an assessment whether the affidavit material requesting the naming of someone as an object of interception is justified in an authorization. The issuing judge is entitled to take into consideration the entire material before him. As stated in R v. Araujo, (supra) the proper approach is to determine the issue of reasonable and probable grounds by assessing the totality of the circumstances.
