For the purposes of maintenance payments for children, is the court likely to be more lenient than for arrears of alimony payable for the support of the child?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Grimwood v. Grimwood, 1988 CanLII 5291 (SK QB):

I am of the view that the foregoing reasons are generally applicable to maintenance payments for children with the qualification that where the arrears are in’ respect of children’s maintenance the court should be more liberal than for arrears of alimony payable for the support of a spouse. See: Harris v. Harris (supra).
