Is a defendant seeking a second opinion on the same matter?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Thomsen v. Gorrill, 2001 BCSC 826 (CanLII):

The defendant has already obtained two independent medical evaluations, one by an orthopaedic specialist and another by a neurologist. However, I am satisfied that this is not a case of the defendant seeking to obtain a second opinion on the same matter: Jopling v. Krystik, supra. Nor, in my view, is this a case of the defendant attempting to pursue every remote medical possibility.
