Is there any juristic reason for deprivation?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Wilson v. Fotsch, 2010 BCCA 226 (CanLII):

Was there any juristic reason for such deprivation? In determining whether there is an absence of juristic reason for an enrichment, the court will consider whether the enrichment is “unjust”, whether the expectation to share in the property is legitimate, and whether there is a contractual, statutory or other legal obligation for the enrichment: Massincaud v. Logie, 2005 BCSC 1665 at para. 48, 144 A.C.W.S. (3d) 683.
