6. Defendant's counsel did not object to the instruction at trial. The Attorney General asserts defendant forfeited the objection by failing to object. However, we may review claims of instructional error that allegedly affect a defendant's substantial rights, notwithstanding a failure to object below. ( 1259; People v.
