Cal.4th 651, 655; People v. McGahuey (1981) 121 Cal.App.3d 524, 531.) Generally, "[a] sentence resulting in imprisonment in the state prison pursuant to [Penal Code] Section 1168 or 1170 shall include a period of parole supervision . . . ." (Pen. Code, 3000, subd. (a)(1).) Inmates serving indeterminate sentences with a maximum term of life imprisonment for first or second degree murder are subject to lifetime parole periods, although they can be discharged from parole earlier under certain circumstances. (Pen. Code, 3000, subds. (a)(1), (b); In re Chaudhary (2009) 172 Cal.App.4th 32, 34.)
