What is the test for calculating future losses for a plaintiff?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Thomasson v. Moeller, 2014 BCSC 2465 (CanLII):

As noted in Gregory v. ICBC, 2011 BCCA 144, an award for future losses requires a comparison between the plaintiff’s likely future income had the accident not happened, to be compared with the plaintiff’s future post-accident period. In doing so, I must determine how long the plaintiff would likely have worked before retiring and the impact of various contingencies that may have impacted the course of her life.
