How have courts dealt with an instruction error in a motor vehicle case?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Wright, 217 Cal.Rptr. 212, 39 Cal.3d 576, 703 P.2d 1106 (Cal. 1985):

Considering all the instructions together, the verdict cannot reasonably be deemed to have been the result of a misconception of the law. (See People v. Honeycutt (1946) 29 Cal.2d 52, 62, 172 P.2d 698.) Under these circumstances, we conclude that the instructional error was harmless. (People v. Watson, supra, 46 Cal.2d at p. 836, 299 P.2d 243.)
