In what circumstances can a plaintiff obtain summary judgment?

Manitoba, Canada

The following excerpt is from McIntosh v. Daoust, 2016 MBQB 194 (CanLII):

In order to obtain a summary judgment, the plaintiff relies on the provisions of Queen's Bench Rule 20.03. I recently applied that rule in granting a summary judgment in Grant v. Electra Sign Ltd., 2016 MBQB 131. I do not intend to review the reasons for granting a summary decision in Grant, but I adopt the analysis which I applied in determining that summary judgment was an appropriate procedure there.
