In Ferris v. Greater Vancouver (Regional District), 2002 BCSC 215, cautionary warning signs were posted at both ends of S-curves on a roadway. The plaintiff fell while rollerblading down a steep, “S-curving” recreational path. The plaintiff alleged the defendant municipality was negligent in failing to place an adequate warning sign at the top of the S-curves, and by failing to implement a policy for the regular inspection of the road for obstructions and debris such as gravel. Mr. Justice Catliff found at paras. 12 and 14 – 15 that:
