Is there an award of costs for the technical winners of two separate motions?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from McKercher v. McKercher, 2019 ONSC 7356 (CanLII):

In Mittal v. Jindal, 2012 ONSC 4297, Perrell J. held that an award of costs in the cause would be appropriate where the technical winners of two motions might ultimately be the losers at trial (the technical winners’ success on the motion being described as “so modest”).
