Is severance pay included in future years' income?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Pomozova v. Mann, 2008 CanLII 68188 (ON SC):

In Cava v. Cava, [2005] W.D.F.L. 3087 (S.C.J.), Pierce J. rejected a claim to include severance pay in future years’ income since there was no suggestion that the payment was “an income continuation expected to sustain the recipient until he can find new employment…” (para. 43).
