The following excerpt is from Adriano v 0886899 B.C. Ltd. (Kartners Bathroom Accessories), 2021 BCSC 166 (CanLII):

Damages are meant to compensate the plaintiff for income he would have earned during the notice period. Earnings during the notice period must be deducted, excepting income earned from a second employer that could have been earned, had the plaintiff continued with the first employer: see Pakozdi v. B & B Heavy Civil Construction Ltd., 2018 BCCA 23 at para. 45.
