What is the standard of communication and cooperation required for joint custody of a child?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Caverley v. Stanley, 2015 ONSC 647 (CanLII):

While some measure of communication and cooperation between the parties is necessary to support a joint custody order, the court is not required to apply a standard of perfection in assessing the parents’ ability to work together. As Quinn, J. remarked in Brook v. Brook, 2006 CanLII 12294 (ON SC), [2006] O.J. No. 1514 (Ont. S.C.J.), “the cooperation needed is workable, not blissful; adequate, not perfect.”
