The following excerpt is from Elder v. Stewart and Ambelcote Estate Ltd., 2007 BCSC 73 (CanLII):

The defendants are not obliged to pay whatever fee is negotiated between an expert and plaintiff’s counsel: Cloutier v. Wong [1992] B.C.J. No. 2940 (S.C.), at para 11. Nor are the defendants obliged to pay for an expert’s “extremely high standards of preparation”: Cloutier v. Wong , supra, at para 14.
