What is the test for a claim for special or extraordinary expenses?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from L.I.W. v. T.R.W., 2014 BCSC 1748 (CanLII):

The claim is not well supported by confirmatory receipts particularized to the expenditure. Further, the vast majority of the claim seems to relate to school supplies, which do not qualify as special or extraordinary expenses: Clarke v. Clarke, 2014 BCSC 824 at para. 54. This portion of the claim is, accordingly, dismissed.
