301. In his 2013 decision in SAHO v. CUPE, Local 4777, supra, Arbitrator Hood upheld dismissal of a hospital porter who failed to show up or call in for a scheduled shift. The grievor had been disciplined on two prior occasions within the previous six months for leaving the hospital before completing his shift. The board of arbitration found, at paragraph 9, that “given the progressive discipline for similar misconduct in a very proximate period … termination is not excessive.”
