As this summary trial will result in a divorce, any order made respecting the children will be a final order, which means that any party who later seeks a variation will have to show a material change in circumstances. See Yu v. Jordan, 2012 BCCA 367 at para. 5. This poses additional difficulty in this case, because a parenting arrangement that had been relatively stable for ten years has recently changed, and is currently unsettled.
