In Godbout v. Longueuil (City), 1997 CanLII 335 (SCC), [1997] 3 S.C.R. 844, it was stated by LaForest J. that where to establish one’s home was a “quintessentially private matter” protected by s. 7. It would appear that if the choice of choosing where to establish a home is a private matter, or an inherently personal matter, then choosing a person with whom to live in the home is also an inherently personal matter protected by s. 7.
