(See generally People v. Maury (2003) 30 Cal.4th 342, 404 [a defendant's confession will be deemed involuntary under the Fifth Amendment only when the influences brought to bear upon him were such as to overbear his self-determination and will to resist].) We therefore reject appellant's argument. Finding no basis to suppress appellant's statements under Miranda or the Fifth Amendment, we uphold the trial court's decision to admit them into evidence.
