The following excerpt is from People v. Aguilar, 240 Cal.App.2d 502, 49 Cal.Rptr. 584 (Cal. App. 1966):
In People v. Prewitt (1959) 52 Cal.2d 330, 341 P.2d 1, a reliable informant had phoned the police and had reported simply that 'a back office operation was being carried on at' a certain address. The court held that this information justified breaking into the named premises in order to effect a non-warrant arrest. For reasons above stated, a fortiori, this information would have supported a search warrant. In the Prewitt case, the court quoted from Willson v. Superior Court (1956) 46 Cal.2d 291, 294, 294 P.2d 36, as follows:
